Vaskarika (karkötő)
Amikor elolvastam a BJW idei hívószavát: PARADOX, rögtön az ismert magyar mondás jutott eszembe: „Fából vaskarika”. Ez a mondás két szóban foglalja össze a paradox jelenséget, az önellentmondást, a fel nem oldható ellentétet, a logikai lehetetlenséget. A paradox lényegét csupa elméleti/filozófiai körülírással szoktuk magyarázni, én most megpróbáltam tárgyiasítani. Az önellentmondást növelendő, a karkötőn nem csak a fa-vas ellentét jelenik meg, hanem igazából nem is szabályos a karika. A formája csak kívülről kerek, de a közepe ovális, ezen túl a keresztmetszete is folyamatosan változó. A külsején átlósan futó finom él tisztelgés egy, a születésem évében készült karkötő készítője előtt.

Iron ring (bracelet)
Iron ring (Vaskarika) (ring as a round circle-shape, not in the jewellery sense) bracelet wood (cherry) hand carving 2022 This year’s BJW call: PARADOX, reminded me instantly of the well-known Hungarian saying: “Iron ring made of wood” (fából vaskarika). This expression summarises in two words the phenomenon of paradox, the self-contradiction, the insoluble antagonism, the logical impossibility.
We usually tend to explain the essence of the paradox with theoretical / philosophical descriptions. I have now tried to objectify it. To increase the self-contradiction, the bracelet not only displays the wood-iron contrast, but it is not a regular circle either. Its shape is only round on the outside, but its center is oval, and its cross-section is constantly changing. The delicate, diagonally running edge on the outside is a tribute to the designer of a bracelet made in the year when I was born.
